By 2018 I had a pretty strong grasp on the in’s and out’s of my role at PayScale. I had accomplished just about everything that I sought out to accomplish in those first 5 years out of school. While the company was growing like a weed, I was up for a new challenge.

Enter 10,000ft.

Interesting name, but unbelievably sticky product. 10,000ft was a customer of mine at PayScale and their Co-Founder / CEO, Martijn van Tilberg and I always joked about how some day he would need me to join to help build a sales team. Unlike most companies, 10kft was producing just under $2M ARR with no sales staff… just a CEO and a COO working along side their small Creative/Dev Teams. Their customers were acquired directly on their site without any touch points.

In my eyes, 10,000ft was a ready to explode… they just needed the right team to do it. I just so happened to be the person they called on build that team.

In just 14 months after joining 10,000ft our revenue exploded from $2M ARR to over $5M ARR. I built a sales team of 6 people, which included 2 SDR’s, 3 Account Executives, and a Content Marketer to boost lead count. We absolutely crushed it that year.

Along came the acquisition offers.
