ACQUISITION
An Experience Unlike Any Other
When I first heard the news that the acquisition was about to be finalized, I was shocked. Shocked that in just 14 months my team and I were able to build a revenue model that would be the catalyst in this entire negotiation.
If you haven’t been a part of an acquisition before, it is a very strange experience. Following the announcement to our entire company (less than 20 people at that time) we had 2 days to finish all active projects before everything was deactivated (CRM, Email, etc.). After those 2 days were up, all focus shifted to the transition into the Smartsheet ecosystem.
My role changed drastically following the announcement. This change was, and still is, my greatest professional achievement. My role evolved from Sales Management (which I knew how to do) to a hybrid role of Sales & Product Management (which I had never done before).
This new role I was about to start would be critical in bridging the gap between what we were doing and where we are going.
